Nicolas Winding Refn confirms that his Maniac Cop TV series is going ahead.
There’s been on and off talk over the years of a movie remake of Maniac Cop. As it turns out, that talk was very nearly right. There is a new take on the cult movie coming, but it’s been reworked into a TV show instead.
It’s coming from Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn and his NWR Originals production company. The series is also being made in partnership with Canal Plus and HBO, and Winding Refn is set to direct the series along with Universal Solider: Regeneration helmer John Hyams.
Winding Refn took to his Twitter account to formally confirm the news, with the following post…

No word yet on just when to expect it, but the series is being sold to international broadcasters around about now. As such, this one might just be full steam ahead shortly thereafter.
