Lethal Weapon 5 is still on, says Richard Donner

He may be in his 90s, but director Richard Donner is still planning to return to the director’s chair for the final Lethal Weapon movie. Oh for us all to have the levels of energy director Richard Donner seems to have at the age of 90. He’s not directed a movie since 12 Blocks well over a decade ago, but rumours have built over the past few years of him returning to direct a final Lethal Weapon installment. And it looks like that’s the case too. Notwithstanding the fact that the last film in the series – Lethal Weapon 4 – arrived all the way back in 1998, there’s now set to be one last outing for Riggs and Murtaugh, played by Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. Furthermore, chatting to The Telegraph, Donner has confirmed that he’s going to be directing the fifth film, just as he’s directed the previous four. “This is my final one”, he said. “It’s both my duty and my privilege to put it to bed”, adding “it’s exciting, actually”. Presumably if the movie is going to happen it’s going to get moving soon.
