The two young stars of Minari and Eighth Grade have been cast opposite one another for Latchkey Kids, a dark comedy about babysitting and murder.
Whilst Minari, the upcoming drama about a Korean family who move to Arkansas in the 1980s to start a farm, doesn’t release until March, it has already won lots of plaudits. Lots of them have gone to the film’s youngest talent. Alan S Kim.
Likewise, Elsie Fisher, the young star of teen drama, Eighth Grade, found herself garnering similar praise when she first broke through in the 2018 coming-of-age film.
Now, the two young actors have been paired together for an intriguing-sounding dark comedy, titled Latchkey Kids.
The outline for the film follows: ‘The dark comedy follows Shae (Kim), a bright nine year old boy, who befriends an eccentric teenage girl (Fisher), looking to escape her troubling life that her mother has created for her, all the while the local enforcement believe the boy might be offing his babysitters.’
Frankly, the idea of an eight year old ‘offing’ his babysitters is enough to get our attention, even more so when you consider that the film is being directed by John J Budion who helmed the 2017 breakout film, Rockaway.
Little else is known about this project at the moment, but be assured we’ll bring you more news as we hear it.
