The Japanese videogame publisher Konami has revealed that a third film adaptation of Silent Hill is on the way.
Videogame publisher Konami held a livestream last night to show off footage for its upcoming video game remake of Silent Hill 2. However, that wasnāt all the video game publisher had up its sleeve, as rumours that another film adaptation might be on the way proved to be true.
The third film in the Silent Hill series was announced, with the title being revealed as Return To Silent Hill. The plot of the film āsees a man returning to the eponymous town to find his lost love.ā
If that plot snippet wasnāt confirmation enough, the filmās director, Christopher Gans, also confirmed that this is a direct sequel that will take us back to the same town that featured in the first film which was released back in 2006, a film that Gans himself directed. Gans also added that the film āwill acknowledge the passing of time and will contain new surprises.ā
No production or release dates were mentioned, with this one sounding very much like itās in the earlier stages of development ā although itās difficult to tell considering how coy the filmmakers were with the details. Design work for the film certainly seems to be well underway though, with Gans stating that the āfilm will re-design some of the original creature effectsā. Weāll bring you more on this one as we hear it.
