Following its year-long delay, the new Jurassic World movie heads into a two week shutdown, sparked by positive Covid tests.
Only yesterday we reported that Universal had opted to delay the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion by a full year, pushing its release date back into the middle of 2022.
Now, the production has had to make use of the extra breathing space it has allowed itself, by opting to pause filming for two weeks after a small number of Covid tests came back positive, Deadline is reporting.
Whilst subsequent tests of cast and crew came back negative, the producers have elected to follow protocol and cease filming for a fortnight. This marks another major UK production that has been forced to temporarily suspend production for Covid reasons, following a similar shutdown on The Batman early last month.
If nothing else good comes from the delays that are currently plaguing the blockbuster landscape, it’s heartening at least to see that productions are using the extra time they have to be cautious, and fulfil their duty of care to those working on these huge projects. Jurassic World: Dominion is due to be with us on June 10th, 2022. More updates on this one as we have them.
