UK cinemas are heading towards a possible opening of their doors in July, in the light of the latest government guidance.
Over the past day or two, the UK government has issued some very clear and absolutely straightforward advice that’s very easy to follow and has caused no confusion at all.
As part and parcel of that, it has published a document by the name of ‘Our Plan To Rebuild’, which gives some kind of idea as to when things around the UK will be allowed to open. Unsurprisingly, cinemas are classed as ‘high risk’ for potential transmission of the Coronavirus, and as such, they’ll be amongst the last things to open. But assuming all things go somewhere in the region of to plan – and obviously there’s no guarantee of that at the moment – then July 4
th is the given date at which restrictions of cinemas opening will begin to be relaxed.
There’s not an enormous amount in the way of surprise there, given that cinemas had been looking at July as a possible starting point to reopen doors. But at least it’s the sense of a start.
No word yet from cinemas on all of this, but it does continue to point eyes towards Christopher Nolan’s
Tenet as the film to open cinemas back up with in earnest.
