The celebrated director of Under The Skin – Jonathan Glazer – is unlikely to premiere his film at Cannes, suggests a new report.
We’re hopeful that 2023 will mark the release of a new film from Jonathan Glazer, the British auteur who has not released a film in almost a decade. Glazer has never been what you’d call prolific as a filmmaker, but with 2014’s Under The Skin regularly heralded as one of the 21st century’s best films, who needs to be labelled as prolific?
Early reports suggested that Glazer might premiere his film in May at Cannes but the outlet World of Reel is now suggesting that May is looking unlikely with Glazer spending plenty of time in post-production on The Zone Of Interest, something that he’s been known to do before. The site is also reporting that Glazer may be considering releasing multiple cuts of the film, perhaps even from different perspectives.
It’s a bold idea from a visionary filmmaker and we’ll have to wait and see what emerges when the film finally makes a festival debut, hopefully at some point this year. The Zone Of Interest is said to be a holocaust drama that uses German and Polish, making it Glazer’s first non-English film. We’ll bring you more on this one as we hear it.
