As John Wick 4 goes into pre-production, more news lands as to the upcoming next two chapters in the Keanu Reeves-headlined saga.
The popular
John Wick franchise was all set to shoot this year, with the original plan being to film the fourth and fifth instalment in one mighty swoop. Whilst the project is still slated to go into production this summer (with pre-production work reportedly already kicking off), the plans to shoot both films back to back have been abandoned, presumably due to the restrictions caused by the pandemic.
Whilst that means we may be waiting a little longer for
John Wick 5, fans of the series will simply be happy to hear that the franchiseās fourth entry is still on target to shoot as planned.
Other news that has also landed regarding the filmās direction includes a change in screenwriter. Derek Kolstad, the credited writer of the seriesā first three entries has announced that he wonāt be writing the fourth, telling
Collider “it wasnāt my decision. When you think of the contractually of these things, the third one I shared the credit with any number of people, they didnāt have to come back to me, and so they didnāt. At a certain stage the studio will tell you, your creation is graduated, and you wish it well. Iām still close with Chad (Stahelski), still close with David (Leitch), and I donāt know whatās going to happen, but Iām excited to seeā.
As well as a change in writer, it also seems that weāll be getting a change of scenery in the next film too. Whilst the bulk of the first three films have taken place in New York, the next film is going to be mainly shot in Berlin and Paris, adding a different feel to proceedings. Weāre certainly excited, and will continue to share more details with you as we hear them.
