The story of John Candy is to be told in a new documentary feature, made with the cooperation of his family. More on the project here.
Work has been quietly underway for a little while now on a documentary about the late comedy favourite, John Candy. Candy passed at the age of 43 back in 1993, leaving behind a much-loved body of work (including Uncle Buck, pictured). He was a man whose private life didn’t grace the tabloids, and his story has remained a quiet one behind closed doors.
This film however is set to shine a little more light on the life of the man, with the full support of his widow and two children.
Colin Hanks is directing the film, with Ryan Reynolds producing. Hanks has had access to previously unbroadcast home videos of Candy, as well as archive material and interviews with his family. Colin Hanks’ father – you might have heard of him – scored his big movie breakthrough in Splash, in which John Candy co-starred.
Amazon is set to snap the documentary feature up, although we don’t have a release date as of yet. When we hear more, we’re pass the information on.
