The videogame Portal is finally heading to the movies, and JJ Abrams has given an update on the project.
The planned adaptation of the innovative and beloved video game
Portal has been in development for what feels like forever, having been announced all the way back in 2013 by JJ Abrams. The last real update on the project came years ago now in 2017, with Abrams confirming it was still in the works, but almost nothing has been heard since then.
These days though, Abrams has one of the most powerful production deals in Hollywood, working in league with Warner Bros to get projects off the ground, and it seems like that may be the difference when it comes to finally realising the long-gestating
Portal project. Whilst the other Valve project,
Half-Life, which was also announced at the same time back in 2013 is said not to be in active development, Abrams has confirmed that the script is being written for
Portal, stating, it “feels like that thing’s finally on the rails.”
Obviously, it’s still early days if the project is at the script stage, but Abrams claims that Warner Bros are excited about the project. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
