Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, two of horrorās foremost production companies, are set to merge according to reports.
Two of horrorās biggest producers are reportedly exploring the option of merging their companies.
Jason Blum, the Blumhouse chief and James Wan, the creator of Atomic Monster are said to be in talks to bring their companies together, creating a bigger entity that will exist as part of Universal Pictures. Both companies have bought in billions and billions of dollars to this point, and according to their creators, are merging to realise even loftier goals.
“James is probably 70 to 80 percent artist and 30 to 20 percent business person, and I am the reverse,” said Blum about the prospective deal, whilst Wan has told
The New York Times that he wants to expand into āvideo games, podcasts, live events, and maybe even merchandise.ā
As to what the deal between Blumhouse and Atomic Monster will look like? We donāt know exactly but it looks like Wanās company will exist as a ācreatively autonomousā imprint as part of Blumhouse. All being well, the partnership will be sealed early next year and weāll presumably begin to see projects roll out throughout the remainder of 2023. Weāll keep you posted on this one as we hear more.
