Infinite, starring Mark Wahlberg: the first trailer

Mark Wahlberg headlines new sci-fi movie Infinite, and the first trailer has landed – along with an update to its release plans. Partly shot in the UK – with streets of Cardiff at one stage closed down for filming as it doubled for New York – is the new Mark Wahlberg-headlined film, Infinite. This one is directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer), and Wahlberg stars alongside Sophie Cookson, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Dylan O’Brien. Toby Jones pops up in this one too. Ian Shorr and Todd Stein get screenplay and screen story credits respectively, with D Eric Maikranz’s book The Reincarnation Papers the source for the tale. And the first trailer for the film has landed. Not just that, but the news that the film will bypass cinemas in the US and go straight to the Paramount+ streaming platform. It’s due to land there at the end of next week. We don’t have Paramount+ in the UK of course, and over here it’s still on the cinema release schedules for the minute, with a September 10^th release date. That may of course change. But for now, here’s that trailer, and you’ll find the synopsis underneath… And that synopsis… Loosely adapted from D. Eric Maikranz’s fantasy novel The Reincarnationist Papers, Infinite follows Evan McCauley (Mark Wahlberg), a self-medicated man diagnosed as schizophrenic because he’s plagued by memories of places he’s never visited. But just as he’s on the verge of a mental breakdown, Evan is visited by the Infinites, a secret society who informs him that not only are his memories real, but they are from all his past lives. The Infinites take Evan into their fold and help him unlock the answers to his memories. Together, they must stop one of their own, Bathurst (Chiwetel Ejiofor), from his mission to destroy humanity.
