For the second time an Indiana Jones movie is showing at Cannes, as Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny will have its premiere at the festival in May.
Harrison Ford’s fifth and final outing as Indiana Jones will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on the 18th May. According to
Deadline, the festival is also set to host a tribute to the accomplished actor’s career.
This will be the second time a film of the franchise has premiered at the French festival, after
Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull had its premiere there in 2008 – also on the 18th May, funnily enough.
Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny is directed by James Mangold, and has an impressive supporting cast made up of Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, Toby Jones and Boyd Holbrook. As well as the new cast members, John Rhys-Davies is set to return as the likeable, incongruously Welsh-accented Sallah, who appeared in
Raiders Of The Lost Ark and
Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade.
Set in 1969, during the Space Race, the film will see Indy go up against the ex-Nazi scientists hired by NASA to help put an America on the moon before anyone else – who, of course, have ulterior motives. Mikkelsen will play the film’s antagonist, Jürgen Voller, while Waller Bridge is Indy’s goddaughter Helena Shaw.
After its Cannes premiere,
Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny will be in cinemas on 30th June.
