Following Dashcam and Host, director Rob Savage is moving into the world of Stephen King for his next movie: more details here.
On the list of people who had a half-decent lockdown, filmmaker Rob Savage must be on the list somewhere. Last year he made and released an hour-long horror film that proved to be incredibly effective and very unnerving. That film was Host, a horror movie set in the world of Zoom calls, and so impactful was it that after debuting on streaming service Shudder, it got a cinema release. Savage then earned a three picture deal with Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions, and the first of those films – Dashcam – debuted a the recent London Film Festival.
Next up for him? It’s the world of Stephen King. Savage will be directing a feature film version of the King short story The Boogeyman. It’s a project that’s been backed by the Disney-owned 20th Century Studios, and had been originally intended for one of its streaming services, but now is heading towards cinemas instead.
Filming on The Boogeyman begins next spring, with Mark Heyman said to have been working on the screenplay for this one. No news on casting as of yet, but as we hear more, we’ll let you know.
