Hellboy is getting rebooted again on the big screen, and here are the first details of the next attempt to bring the character to cinema.
For many fans, 2004’s
Hellboy and the 2008 sequel
Hellboy: The Golden Army represent the best iteration of the titular character onscreen, as written and directed by Guillermo Del Toro and portrayed by Ron Perlman. Despite fans clamoring for a third instalment with the same creatives and cast, it languished in development hell until the franchise was rebooted in 2019, with a
Hellboy film written by Andrew Cosby, directed by Neil Marshall and starring David Harbour. Barely breaking even and a disappointment with critics and fans, it left the
Hellboy franchise in limbo.
If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again.
Hellboy is being rebooted once again, although still no del Toro back on board.
We don’t know many details about it at this stage, other than the fact that
Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance co-director Brian Taylor will be behind the camera, working from a story by
Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and horror author Christopher Golden.
We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
