It looks like there’s a chance of a third Happy Death Day movie after all, as Jason Blum suggests the trilogy may yet get a chance to complete.
The first Happy Death Day movie, from writer/director Christopher Landon, was another hit from the Blumhouse stable of horror movies. It was the one that introduced a Groundhog Day-style mechanic to a horror thriller, and with some success too.
The film was a hit to the point that a sequel – Happy Death Day 2U – followed, but that failed to match the original’s box office. And that seemed to be that, with no sign of another movie on the horizon.
However, producer Jason Blum has held out something of an olive branch for the series, telling Yahoo that he’s “working overtime” to make a third film happen.
Certainly Christopher Landon has said in the past that he’s got an idea to complete a trilogy of movies, and now it looks like there’s a sporting chance he may get to do so. Still some way to go here, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
