Nickelodeon star Kenan Thompson has revealed that talks are ongoing about Good Burger 2.
The words ‘Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger, can I take your order, huh?’ will give some of a certain generation a nostalgic rush. Spun off from the sketch in Nickelodeon series All That, 1997’s movie Good Burger – the film the Criterion Collection consistently overlooked – saw Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell play new employee Dexter and dim witted cashier Ed. Forming an uneasy bond, they must fight to save their restaurant when a conglomerate burger chain moves in across the road.
Thompson, speaking to Entertainment Tonight, revealed that that a sequel script has been written. He said of the screenplay that “We’re getting really close on Good Burger 2. It’s gonna happen, and I think it’s gonna happen soon. We’re gonna figure out when the pocket of time will be to shoot it, but it’s gonna happen. We had a reading, like a little private thing just to hear the script that we’ve been working on, out loud — just with a couple friends and a couple people from Paramount and Nickelodeon, and it was so funny”.
Kenan and Kel was one of the seminal shows for late 90s Nickelodeon, which was in the news recently due to the sad passing of rapper Coolio, who penned and performed the iconic theme tune.
