Actor Glen Powell and writer-producer Chris Morgan are working on sci-fi action-thriller Deputy X for Universal Pictures.
Chris Morgan, producer of seven of the
Fast and Furious films, is teaming up with actor Glen Powell to work on sci-fi action-thriller
Deputy X. The film is being produced by Universal Pictures, and Jack Paglen will write the screenplay.
Paglenās credits include writing the Johnny Depp-starring
Transcendence and franchise blockbuster
Alien: Covenant. It sounds like his franchise-writing experience will come in handy, as
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that
Deputy X is intended to kickstart a high-concept series of films.
Details on the film are scarce, but it has been compared to Arnold Schwarzenegger classic
The Running Man, as well as
Loganās Run. Bold comparisons for a movie this early in development.
Glen Powell will produce as well as star in the film. His acting credits include
Hidden Figures and the upcoming legacy sequel
Top Gun: Maverick. Producer Chris Morgan has a long-standing relationship with Universal Pictures, having produced several
Fast and Furious films starting with third instalment
Tokyo Drift. That particular one may not be so popular, but he has also worked on
Furious 7 and spin-off
Hobbs And Shaw. Morganās other producing credits include Netflixās
Birdbox.
Weāll bring you more news on
Deputy X as we hear it.
