The Tom Hardy-starring actioner Havoc, from Gareth Evans, wrapped production back in 2021 yet as it stands, isn’t slated to debut until 2025.
Yesterday, Netflix released a swathe of movies set to debut in 2024 and well, it looked like you’d expect it to given that the company is already putting its plan to shrink its annual movie slate into action. However, in a slimmed-down list there was one film in particular that was missing, causing an eyebrow or two to raise in puzzlement.
The film in question (as first noticed by World of Reel) is Gareth Evans’ Havoc, a movie that was shot all the way back in 2021 and yet still doesn’t seem to have secured a release date on Netflix. An action thriller, directed by the filmmaker behind The Raid, starring Tom Hardy and shot in Wales? Yes, please. we’d like this one just as soon as it’s ready, but when the film will be ready is anybody’s guess.
As it stands, the slate of films are dated up to the summer, with a few more simply listed as appearing in the back half of the year. It’s possible that Havoc could be added to the list later in the year and appear in the second half of 2024, but we’ll have to wait and see. The film did undergo reshoots early last year and it could just be Evans taking his time to get things right for what will be his first film since 2018’s Apostle.
Havoc stars Tom Hardy and features an ensemble cast that includes Forest Whitaker, Luis Guzman, and Timothy Olyphant. We do have a synopsis for the film and it reads like this:
‘After a drug deal gone wrong, a bruised detective must fight his way through the criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.’
We hope the film does find its way to our eyeballs this year but in the meantime, you can find the list of films that Netflix definitely is releasing, including dates, right here.
