Theo James will star opposite Aaron Taylor-Johnson in British heist thriller Fuze, a film that comes with an explosive twist.
Theo James is one of those actors who seems to keep earning plaudits whatever he features in and as such, heās got a couple of promising film projects in the pipeline. Chief among them? A starring role in David Mackenzieās upcoming British heist thriller, Fuze.
James most recently starred in The Gentlemen, the small screen spin-off (pictured) from Guy Ritchieās 2019 film. Before that, the British actor picked up plenty of critical praise for an excellent take on āthe character you love to hateā in Mike Whiteās second season of The White Lotus, the anthology drama series that has been praised by critics and audiences alike.
Starring film roles seem to be the next step for the Divergent actor, not least the lead part in an adaptation of Stephen Kingās The Monkey. That one is set to release sometime next year and will see James work with Elijah Wood and She-Hulk's Tatiana Maslany.
We donāt yet know when Fuze is coming but we do know the premise, the director and the lead role. The film is being directed by David Mackenzie, the filmmaker behind 2016’s hugely underrated Hell Or High Water, a Texan bank heist drama starring Chris Pine that is well worth seeking out if you haven’t seen it yet. Following that, Mackenzie collaborated with Pine again on 2018’s Outlaw King, although that film released to a more muted reception.
As for Fuze, 'the film is ‘set on a London construction site where an unexploded bomb sparks a mass evacuation – the perfect cover for a heist.’
Sounds fun, doesnāt it? James will be starring opposite Aaron Taylor-Johnson who may or may not be the next 007. While the premise may be a bit wacky (although not as wacky as that āZā in the title), we can see Mackenzie finding a way to keep the action grounded enough for the film to meet the āthrillerā aspect of its remit.
Weāll bring you more on Fuze as we hear it.
