A film based on Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost is bringing Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie back to the screen together.
Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie have been apart on screen for a good decade or so now, but producer Robert Chandler has confirmed on his Twitter account that something’s been done about that.
The pair are both in the line-up for the new animated film The Canterville Ghost, based on a short story by Oscar Wilde. It’s been quite a journey to raise the financing for the feature, with Chandler offering a glimpse at that by declaring “it took us 11 years to do it, but we finally completed the finance-raise” on the project.
The film, he’s confirmed, is in production and due to be released towards the end of 2022. Exactly where Fry and Laurie fit into the ensemble isn’t yet known, and last we heard Kim Burdon was set to direct. Full confirmation of personnel hasn’t happened yet, but we’ll bring you the news and further updates as we hear it. In the meantime, here’s Chandler’s Tweet…
