For her second film as director, Olivia Wilde has hired Florence Pugh to leads the ensemble cast – more details here.
Well, this is already looking really rather special. Olivia Wilde’s first film as director was, of course, the quite wonderful Booksmart. And Florence Pugh’s CV of roles is already hugely impressive, leading to her first – and definitely not her last – Oscar nomination for her work in Little Women earlier this year.
Now? The pair are working together, as Wilde presses ahead with her second film as director.
She’s making Don’t Worry Darling, a psychological thriller set in the 1950s. Katie Silberman is penning the screenplay for the film, and an impressive ensemble has been recruited.
As well as the brilliant Pugh, the cast for this one includes Wilde herself in the cast, along with Shia LaBeouf and Chris Pine. New Line Cinema won the auction to make the film, and now it’s just a case of waiting before all concerned can shoot the film. Obviously that’s in some degree of flux due to current circumstances, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
