Tom Hanks, alongside a dog and a robot? It might not be that futuristic Turner & Hooch sequel youāre craving, but Finch could still be a fun film.
Apple, it seems, is keen to be in the Tom Hanks business. After snapping up his WWII-era drama Greyhound for its streaming platform, the company then announced in May that it had acquired another Hanks project in the form of Finch, a sci-fi drama that Universal had sold to Apple following delays in the release schedule caused by the pandemic.
Directed by Game Of Thrones’ Miguel Sapochnik, the film, formerly titled Bios, follows ‘a robotics engineer and one of the few survivors of a cataclysmic solar event who wants to ensure his beloved dog, Goodyear, will be cared for after he is gone. He creates a robot (Caleb Landry Jones) to watch over Goodyear when he no longer can, and the trio embarks on a perilous journey into a desolate American West, as Finch hopes to show the robot the joy and wonder of what it means to be aliveā.
The first trailer for the film has arrived and you can check it out right here. Originally set to release in October of 2020 via Universal, the film is now set for a November 5th release here in the UK, presumably on Apple TV+, but thereās no word yet whether weāll be getting a theatrical release alongside that.
For now, check out the trailer below.
