A final trailer for the bloody tale of viking revenge The Northman has launched ahead of the film’s imminent release.
With the film launching this very weekend, we’re not sure we really needed another trailer for Robert Eggers’ The Northman, but we have one anyway for you to feast your eyes on.
With two searingly good films behind him in the form of 2015’s The Witch and last year’s The Lighthouse, interest in Egger’s next directorial project is high, especially given that he’s working on a more epic scale with this film, not to mention a budget to match. The project, The Northman – a tenth century Viking revenge drama – is out on Friday of this week.
The film is a bloody viking saga of revenge and retribution and takes place in Iceland in the early middle ages. It was co-written by Eggers alongside Icelandic novelist, Sjón Sigurdsson. There’s no shortage of talent wishing to collaborate with Eggers following the impact of his previous two films. Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Ethan Hawke, Claes Bang, Kate Dickie, Ralph Ineson and singer-songwriter Bjork are in the ensemble with Alexander Skarsgard playing the titular role.
The film will be released by Focus Features in the US and doesn’t release until the 22nd over there, which is probably why we have another trailer to enjoy. Universal is handling distribution in the UK and internationally.
The film looks visually beautiful as well, and we couldn’t be much more excited for this one if we tried. Here’s the trailer…
