The wildly popular Netflix action movie Extraction is set for a follow up, with filming due to begin next year it’s been revealed.
Joe Russo has been chatting about a sequel to the popular Netflix action flick that he co-wrote and produced,
Extraction, and it seems that shooting on the follow-up – once again starring Chris Hemsworth – will commence sometime next year.
Back when the film released in July, it quickly became the streaming platform’s most popular production of all time, amassing almost 100 million views in a month. Naturally, Netflix quickly green-lit a sequel, which Joe Russo spent a while mulling over. Now it seems the script is moving in the right direction, with filming on the project being slated for some point in 2021, according to
ComicBook.
Along with Russo on scripting duties, director Sam Hargrove and Chris Hemsworth will all return.
“Yeah we’re still working on two,” Russo says. “We’re in the script phase right now but we’re hoping to shoot that sometime next year. And then you know, say I’m super excited, Hemsworth’s super excited, Netflix is excited so it’s really just a function of getting the script done.”
There’s no word as yet whether Chris Hemsworth will be needing an extra two trailers and buffet trucks to sustain his incredibly-huge arms as the actor continues to impossibly buff up to play the wrestling icon, Hulk Hogan. 2021 promises to be a busy year for the Australian actor as he also looks set to reprise his role as Thor in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder along with Extraction 2, the aforementioned Hulk Hogan biopic and possibly George Miller’s Furiosa follow-up to Mad Max: Fury Road.
He is currently filming the action sci-fi film Spiderhead early into 2021.
When we hear any more news on Extraction 2, rest assured you’ll be the first to know.
