It looks like Euphoria season 3 is back on track as the HBO show is heading into production next January.
The long-delayed third season of Euphoria, Sam Levinson’s HBO hit TV series, is edging closer to production. With season 2 airing in 2022, there were fears that HBO wasn’t able to bring the team back together for another season.
The show’s main cast, including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney and Hunter Schafer, have all transitioned into starring in movies and have very busy schedules, making another season of Euphoria seem like a wish more than a reality. HBO said in March they were “committed” to making another season and Euphoria season 3 is now finally taking shape.
As reported by Deadline, HBO announced on 12th July that the new season would commence filming in January. If we had to guess, we can probably expect Euphoria season 3 in late 2025 or early 2026.
“I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on Euphoria in January. We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of Euphoria to life for the fans,” Francesca Orsi, EVP of HBO programming and head of HBO drama series and films, said.
Levinson, who also made the critically panned The Idol in-between Euphoria seasons 2 and 3, previously described season 3 as a “film noir”.
The series follows Zendaya’s Rue, a recovering drug addict, and her friends as they navigate the highs and lows of being on the cusp of adulthood. Euphoria has both been praised and criticised for its frank depictions of sex, drugs and alcohol among teens.
Zendaya made history in 2020 when she won her first Emmy for playing Rue, becoming the youngest ever actress to win her category. She won the same category two years later.
More on Euphoria season 3 as we hear it.
