Vice's Lily Rabe will feature in Downtown Owl, as well as co-direct the tale of a fictional throwback North Dakota Town, and the events that ensue during a fierce blizzard.
Stage 6 Films, a division of Sony Pictures has announced that it has set its directors and cast for the planned
Downtown Owl. The film is based on the book by Chuck Klosterman and sets itself ‘somewhere in rural North Dakota in 1983 in the fictional town called Owl where you won’t find cable or pop culture, but you will find a downtown with a first-rate Chevrolet dealership, three bars and a new high school English teacher whose presence upends the lives of locals just in time for a white-out blizzard for the ages.’

Deadline, Lily Rabe, who was in last year’s
The Tender Bar and also starred opposite Christian Bale in 2018’s
Vice, is part of the ensemble alongside Ed Harris, Vanessa Hudgens, Finn Wittrock, Jack Dylan Grazer and August Blanco Rosenstein. Rabe will also be co-directing the project with regular collaborator, Hamish Linklater.
It has also been announced that T-Bone Burnett will be doing the music for the film and we’re looking forward to seeing how the project’s early 1980s small town, USA feel eventually comes together. There’s no release schedule nor even a production window been announced yet but we’ll let you know more as we hear it.
