According to a report, new Doctor Who companion Millie Gibson is leaving after her first series, and her replacement has been cast.
Weāve only had one hour of Ncuti Gatwaās era of Doctor Who (well, an hour and a quarter with the end of The Giggle). However, in production terms, the second series is currently filming, and willl be broadcast in 2025.
While there are many advantages to filming so far ahead, one of the disadvantages is that information is harder to keep contained.
Which leads us to some news that was first reported by The Mirror ā so do take it with a pinch of salt ā but the storyās been picked up by a lot of websites, and it looks as though thereās something in this.
Apparently, Millie Gibson will leave Doctor Who after the 2024 Christmas Special. The new companion is said to be Varada Sethu, who is best known for starring in Neil Crossā apocalyptic drama Hard Sun.

However, the same report suggests that although Gibson doesnāt appear in the 2024 Christmas Special, she will continue to make sporadic appearances in Series 2, or Series 15 if youāre sticking to the traditional numbering.
Gatwaās first full series will begin in May.
Aside from Davies, Kate Herron and Briony Redman, we donāt yet know who else is writing the scripts. We do know that Indira Varma is returning to the Whoniverse after playing Susie Costello in Torchwood, and sheās playing a character called The Duchess.
Other guest stars will include Jinkx Monsoon, Jonathan Groff and Lenny Rush.
Jemma Redgrave, Yasmin Finney and Bonnie Langford are reprising the roles of Kate Stewart, Rose Noble and Melanie Bush, respectively. Few plot details have been released, but based on the trailer after The Church On Ruby Road, one adventure takes The Doctor and Ruby to the Swinging Sixties, where they meet The Beatles.
Public filming of the new series usually means that the BBC will make an official announcement sooner rather than later, weāll keep you updated as we hear more.
