Three Clint Eastwood favourites ā led by Dirty Harry ā are coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK, and are up for order.
Fans of Clint Eastwood classics, and the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format, have a triple treat in store, as Warner Bros prepares to release there of Eastwood’s movies on the format.
Thus far, it’s just the Steelbook versions that have gone up for order, and there are plenty of details yet to fill in. But there’s a sporting chance these initial releases will sell fast, hence this post.
Dirty Harry was first rumoured for 4K disc last year, and it’s definitely on its way in 2025. There aren’t at the moment known plans for the four follow-ons as well – although it’d be terrific to see Sudden Impact in 4K – but you can find Dirty Harry up for order here.
The next two titles are westerns that Clint Eastwood both directed and starred in. My personal pick of the two is the brilliant The Outlaw Josey Wales, dating back all the way to 1976. It’s a pretty brutal revenge-driven film, and was the second western that Eastwood directed himself (after High Plains Drifter).
You can find the Steelbook of that listed for order here.
Heading into the 1980s, and we get 1985’s Pale Rider, the top-grossing western of the decade (although, in fairness, that’s not saying too much). Flies under the radar a little this one at times, but it deserves not to. You can find it available to order here.
We don’t have official artwork for any of these at the moment, nor is there a release day marked (Amazon has holding dates in December, but that’s standard operating practice when it doesn’t have anything concrete). Having a guess, I’d suggest the other side of Easter or thereabouts is possible, but also, I don’t have insider knowledge there. Will update this post as I hear more.
Still, very happy that more pre-1990s cinemas is getting the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray treatment. And that the drum is still being banged for physical media.
