The rivalry between Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank is being told on film, in David Harewood’s directorial debut: more here.
I’m half-way through David Harewood’s brand new memoir at the moment (it’s here, if you’re interested), and then news comes in that he’s about to make his feature directorial debut. He’s picked quite the project to tackle too.
He’s going to be making a boxing movie by the name of For Whom The Bell Tolls, that’ll tell the real life story of the rivalry between British fighters Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank.
The film has been penned by Daniel Harris, Joanna Ampah and Kieron Hawkes, and has been set up at production company Fulwell 73. The 90s-set movie will examine the lives of Eubank and Benn outside the ring, as well as the build up to their most famous fight.
No news on casting for the movie as of yet, and the film will be sorting its financing and distribution out over the coming week. The plan then is for filming to begin in early 2022.
No word as of yet on a release date, but as we hear more, we’ll let you know.
