Dave Bautista has been chatting about how Knives Out 2 might just outdo Knives Out 1.
We’re all well aware of the general rule of thumbs when it comes to sequels: rarely does putting a number on the end of a film help to improve upon its predecessor, or so they say. When it comes to the sequel to Knives Out, which is currently midway through production, one of the stars of its ensemble – Dave Bautista – has nonetheless been talking about why he thinks it will improve upon the first.
Talking to PEOPLE, via Collider, Bautista had this to say about the film: “I really think it’s going to be as good, if not better, than the first one. I’m always afraid to say that because I don’t want anybody to get offended saying that we’re going to be better, but I really do think this. I think the characters are just so much more colourful. I think people are really going to dig this.”
Director, Rian Johnson, has confirmed that the production has now completed its shooting leg in Greece and all seems to be going well for the series’ second instalment. It’ll be coming to Netflix after the streaming giant forked out a reported $450m to secure two more sequels to the original.
The first film featured some memorable characters portrayed by an incredible ensemble cast including Jamie-Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Chris Evans and the late Christopher Plummer. For Bautista though, it’s the characters in the sequel that will help to improve upon its predecessor: “Everybody’s cast so well. I was working with a couple of my castmates and was mesmerised by their performances and just how well they’ve adapted into these characters. I think the characters in this are even more quirky than the first one.”
The sequel will feature Daniel Craig returning as detective Benoit Blanc, Bautista (who last featured opposite Craig in SPECTRE), Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr, Kate Hudson, Ethan Hawke, Jessica Henwick and Madelyn Cline.
Frankly, we can’t wait.
