My Spy is getting a sequel, with the same cast and creative team returning: more details here.
My Spy was a fun family comedy that landed on Amazon Prime in 2020 after being delayed by the events of that year. It also made the cover of one of our junior magazines too.
Following in the footsteps of similar ‘tough guy action star does a family comedy’, a surprisingly crowded subgenre with the likes of Vin Diesel in The Pacifier, Jackie Chan in The Spy Next Door and Hulk Hogan in Mr Nanny, My Spy followed Dave Bautista as he is assigned to keep watch on a family and is soon discovered by their precocious nine year old daughter, Sophie. Shenanigans ensued.
A sequel is going into production, it’s been confirmed, with stars Bautista, Chloe Coleman, Kristen Schaal and Ken Jeong returning, alongside new recruits Anna Faris, Craig Robinson and Flula Borg.
Director Peter Segal and writers Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber are also returning, with Segal also penning the story and working on the script.
