Daniel Radcliffe re-confirms he won’t be returning to the world of Harry Potter, this time as the new TV series continues to move forward.
In news that will likely come as no surprise to anyone, Daniel Radcliffe has ruled out the possibility of returning for the upcoming Harry Potter television series on HBO Max. Or Max. Whatever they’re calling that service by the time the show comes out.
Aside from the fact that the show will have an entirely new cast, Radcliffe said that he has no interest. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Radcliffe said that “my understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh, and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere, so I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way”.
He went on to wish the actor who takes on the role next “all the luck in the world. I’m very excited to have that torch passed, but I don’t think it needs me to physically pass it”.
Radcliffe expressed similar sentiments about the mooted film adaptation of the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The Harry Potter series on HBO will dedicate one series to each book, allowing for many of the plotlines excised from the novels to be included.
