Thereās a new film on the way, thatās based on The History Channelās long-running Ancient Aliens TV show ā more details here.
Cobra Kai is one of those shows that has managed to pull off the impressive trick of satisfying cynical, reboot-weary generation X-era fans of the original 1980s films, whilst simultaneously pulling in a whole new audience comprised of younger viewers. Thatās no easy feat, but the popular series seems to have managed it in style.
Now, Counterbalance, the creative team behind
Cobra Kai, is turning its attention to a new project which has roots on the smaller screen. Itās an extra-terrestrial-themed feature project,
Ancient Aliens, based on The History Channelās pseudo-documentary series which has aired over 200 episodes.
Although details are being kept squarely under wraps, the following has been announced:
ā
Ancient Aliens will be a two-handed, globe-spanning adventure featuring ancient sites and artifacts, confronting the theories and questions raised by the popular docuseries.ā
Not much to go on there, especially if like us, you havenāt seen the TV show, but if the creatives behind the project can find the same combination of heart and the ability to elevate the source material that they did so effectively with
Cobra Kai, then we could be in for some fun.
Counterbalanceās Josh Heald is directing, although no casting or release date has been set as of yet.
Filming for the next season of
Cobra Kai reportedly began in February so weād expect to hear more when thatās wrapped up. When we hear more news on this one, weāll let you know.
