Claire Foy will star as a haunted young mother in the upcoming movie Dust – and here are some more details on the project.
Claire Foy is set to star in a psychological horror thriller set against the backdrop of the terrible 1930s dust storms that ravaged Oklahoma and the Mid-West, adding in part to the US Great Depression which defined that era.
Searchlight Pictures, the prestige imprint of what was formerly 20th Century Fox, has picked up the project and is putting it into production. The film will be titled Dust, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Foy has been earning plaudits from all corners for her roles over the last couple of years. Most notably in Netflix’s The Crown, but also apposite Ryan Gosling in First Man whilst her turn in Steven Soderbergh’s psychological thriller, Unsane, showed just how brilliant she can be in this particular genre.
The project was first revealed at this year’s virtual Cannes market, after being developed as a screenplay at the Sundance Writer’s Lab.
Will Joines and Carrie Crouse are set to direct from a script penned by Crouse, who has credits writing for TV’s Westworld series. Dust will mark the duo’s feature debut as directors, following a series of shorts.
We’ll next see Foy as the wife of artist Louis Wain opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in the biopic, Louis. She’s also slated to star with James McAvoy in the thriller My Son. More on the exciting-sounding Dust as we hear it.
