Cinemas in England will start reopening on July 10th, as Cineworld confirms its plans and the safety measures it’ll be introducing.
It’s definite: cinemas in the UK are opening again in July, and Cineworld has become the first to confirm when it’ll be reopening it doors, just over three months since they were locked.
Whilst subject to UK government restrictions, the chain will open all of its English sites on July 10th. Opening dates will follow for Scotland, Wales and Ireland in line with specific national guidelines as they become available.
Cineworld has published an extensive blog post detailing the measures it’s putting in place to keep cinemas safe. Social distancing will be implemented throughout cinemas, and it sounds like there are industrial levels of hand sanitisers being made available. New seating maps are being introduced, and contactless payments encouraged. Staggered film times too will be deployed “to reduce customers cross paths with other customers going in or out of other screens and buildup of crowds in the foyer”.
Furthermore, there will be more time between screenings to allow for the extra cleaning that will be undertaken.
