The cast for Christmas comedy Candy Cane Lane is expanding, with Eddie Murphy taking the lead role.
It looks set to be a good year for Eddie Murphy.
You People, in which he stars opposite Jonah Hill and Julia Louis Dreyfus, amongst others, will be released on Netflix on the 27
th January. He also has several projects in the pipeline too, including the long awaited
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley, which will not only see him reprise arguably his most iconic role (heās pictured here in
Beverly Hills Cops III), but will also bring back original cast members John Ashton, Paul Reiser and Judge Reinhold. That is expected to be released next year.
Another project in the pipeline is
Candy Cane Lane, a Christmas themed comedy, the plot of which is currently under wraps.
What we do know is that it has been scripted by
Muppets writer Kelly Younger and it will reunite Murphy with director Reginald Hudlin, with whom he made 1992’s
Boomerang. Murphy is also producing the film alongside Brian Grazer.
Alongside Murphy, Jillian Bell, Tracee Ellis Ross, Robin Thede, Nick Offerman, comedian Chris Redd and rising stars Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, and Thaddeus J. Mixson have also been added to the cast.
Candy Cane Lane is being made under a three picture deal Murphy made with Amazon Studios, and the film will ultimately stream on Amazon Prime. No release date has been confirmed, but it would be a fair bet to say that we can expect to see this one around Christmas.
