Marvel is seeking to bring Captain Marvel 2 to the screen in 2022, but a change of directors is required.
Development continues on the sequel to the hugely successful Captain Marvel, but there’s been a shuffle of personnel on the project.
The first film was co-written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, and now we hear that they won’t be back for the second. They had been set to direct again, but now won’t be doing so. There’s been no massive falling out though, and they’re still involved with a possible spin-off series for the Disney+ streaming platform.
Furthermore, Megan McDonnell has now been hired too to write the script for Captain Marvel 2.
Brie Larson will of course reprise the title role in the new movie. Marvel is now on the hunt for a female director to take the helm, and the plan is to have the movie in cinemas ideally in 2022.
More as we hear it.
