Jonah Hill will be directing Outcome for Apple, thatās going to star Cameron Diaz and Keanu Reeves. More here.
After a long hiatus from acting, Cameron Diaz has begun dipping her toe back into the world of moviemaking. After starring in 2014ās Annie, Diaz retired to focus on other things before eventually being tempted back almost a decade later to star alongside Jamie Foxx in the yet-to-release (and appropriately-titled) action flick, Back in Action.
That one is due out at sometime this year on Netflix, and while weāre looking forward to seeing her appear on our TVs, Diazās next project may well restore the actor to where she truly belongs: the silver screen. Jonah Hill has signed Cameron Diaz up to star alongside Keanu Reeves in Outcome, a dark comedy for Apple Studios.
According to the brief synopsis for the film, āthe story follows Reef (Reeves), a damaged Hollywood star who must dive into the dark depths of his past. He must confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip.ā Thereās no word yet as to who Diaz will play.
When news of the project first broke back in April of last year, Hill was said to be appearing in front of the camera as well as directing.
Hillās directorial debut was 2018ās Mid90s, the teen skateboarding drama that served as a solid foundation for his career as a filmmaker. Since then heās also helmed 2022ās Stutz, a documentary about his therapist and the mental health issues that Hill has dealt with.
Clearly, last yearās strikes have slowed things down with this project but if it means we now have the rather intriguing leading duo of Diaz and Reeves to look forward to, then it will have definitely been worth the wait.
Apple Studios seems pretty committed to the theatrical side of the business these days so thereās every chance that this film will see the inside of a cinema and for that, weāre very thankful. Weāll being you more news (including a timeline on production) when we hear more.
