More footage has been revealed of Bye Sweet Carole, which combines classic Disney-style animation with creeping dread.
Bye Sweet Carole was revealed in the Guerrilla Collective showcase back in June with a teaser trailer. Now, some gameplay footage has emerged, which was first shown behind closed doors at Gamescom last week.
The game sees you playing as a young girl called Lana Benton, who is being pursued by a creepy, long-necked entity known as the Old Hat Man. Lana is searching for Carole, a girl who escaped from an orphanage called Bunny Hall, which is infested with wild rabbits ā and Lana herself has the ability to turn into a bunny. In her rabbit form sheās able to bound up walls and escape more quickly, but sheās also more vulnerable.
But itās the classic Disney-style animation that really makes Bye Sweet Carole stand out. The style evokes early Disney films such as Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, but here itās mixed with the kind of horrors youād never find in a Disney movie. At one point the Old Hat Man bursts out of a young girlās skin, like some sort of creepypasta tale about what happens if you leave the Disney Channel on past midnight.
Thereās also a rather monstrous rabbit cook who very much does not look like good news.
Bye Sweet Carole is being developed by Little Sewing Machine and Meangrip Studios, while Just For Games is publishing. Little Sewing Machine is the Italian studio set up by Chris Darril, the chap behind the Remothered series of horror games.
Bye Sweet Carole is set for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One in 2024, and you can wishlist it on Steam right here.
