British indie feature The Tale Of The Fatherless is now available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime ā and itās well worth checking out.
Shot in Birmingham, The Tale Of The Fatherless tells the story of a group of Black youths who are attempting to navigate the challenges of a life lived without the guidance of their fathers. This story explores the impact that mothers, faith, crime, and culture have on fatherless Black youth.
The film was adapted for screen by 29-year-old twin sisters Sadé Davis, who also features in the cast, and Misha Elliott from the stage play of the same name written by Elliott, who co-directs.
Stefan Davis co-directs and also stars in the film, in a performance that won him a Best Actor award at the British Urban Film Festival in 2020.
Other cast members include Christian Jae, Ackeem Gibbs, Andre Hesson, Sadé Davis, Tonia Daley-Campbell, Beverly March, Laura Autumn Rai, Llewela Bailey, Jayden Hanley, Gidz Clarke Gayle, Andre-Pierre-Nisbett-Gordon, Marcus Walker, Carlene Clarke, Claudette Dawson and Daniel Alexander.
The Tale Of The Fatherless is set to break major barriers of representation for Black British film, by being the first film to feature a predominantly Black British Caribbean cast from Birmingham to be released in cinemas in over ten years. The film is also set up to be the first to be produced by a majority minority crew from Birmingham and the West Midlands exclusively for G.A.P Entertainment.
Stefan came along to one of our Movie Geek Live shows in Birmingham to talk about the film, and he and his team are quite the force of nature.
You can rent or buy the film via Amazon Prime and find out more information via the filmās official website.
