Eddie Murphyās Axel Foley adventures are coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, as Beverly Hills Cop III gets announced for the format.
2024 is the year that the long-mooted fourth film in the Beverly Hills Cop series finally happens, with Netflix bringing Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F to our screens later this year.
It’s the first time that Eddie Murphy has taken on the lead role since 1994’s ill-fated Beverly Hills Cop III, a film that brought the saga to a shuddering stop when it stumbled at the box office. But still: there’s a chance to reassess that third film now, as Paramount is releasing it on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format.
In fact, it’s doing two things. Beverly Hills Cop III will be coming to 4K disc on February 19th in the UK. And it’s accompanying that with a boxset that features Beverly Hills Cop and Beverly Hills Cop II – both of which have been previously released in 4K – in a trilogy collection.
Specific to the 4K of Beverly Hills Cop III though, there’s no sign of any additional features here, and Paramount isn’t doing its usual trick of bundling a Blu-ray in the box either from what we can tell.
Still, the film is available to order now, and you can find more on it here.
Separately, that boxset looks to be a straight rebundle job, with the three films brought together here.
Only the original movie has any extra features included with it though.
We’ll leave you with the synopsis for Beverly Hills Cop III, should you need or desire a reminder…
Eddie Murphy is back as Axel Foley in the third, action-packed installment of the blockbuster comedy franchise Beverly Hills Cop, now remastered in 4K Ultra HD™ with Dolby Vision and HDR-10. After investigating a Detroit car theft ring, Axel finds himself at the center of real high-stakes danger—a hidden crime front located within a popular California amusement park. Directed by John Landis (Trading Places, Coming to America), and featuring Judge Reinhold, Bronson Pinchot and Gil Hill returning to their roles.
