Let the torrents of moronic sniggering commence once more, as Beavis and Butthead are returning to the movies for the first time since 1996.
Belated sequels are nothing new in this day and age, but itās still a little surprising (and entirely welcome) to hear that Mike Judgeās Beavis and Butthead characters will be returning to the world of feature films, for the first time since 1996ās Beavis and Butthead Do America.
The moronic duo, whose TV show ran from 1993 until 2011, are already set for a return to TV screens with a new series on the soon-to-launch (in the US) Paramount+. The rebranded streaming service formerly known as CBS All Access is relaunching with a swathe of new programming, all with the aim of making a dent in the streaming market. A new Beavis And Butthead series had already been announced, but now it seems, a film is coming too.
Creator Mike Judgeās involvement has not been officially announced, nor have any other details, but as he is behind the upcoming series reboot, we imagine itās pretty safe to assume that the originator of the show will be participating in some way.
The film was announced by Beavis and Butthead themselves, using some kind of Zoom-like platform, which was pretty jarring for those of us that imagine that the characters live perennially in the 1990s.
As you might imagine, despite using the kind of video chat application that weāre all used to in this age of remote communications, unsurprisingly, the idiotic duo still havenāt quite got the hang of social distancing yet. You can see the launch announcement below. Weāll bring you more news on this one as we hear it.
