Sonic The Hedgehog himself has unveiled the winner of the BBFC’s biggest ever Create The Card Competition. Check out the winning entry below…
The BBFC’s Create The Card Competition is a relatively new, and thoroughly lovely, tradition which invites artistic youngsters to design the official Black Card (you know, the slide with the age rating on it) for one of the year’s biggest movies.
For 2024, the Board has teamed up with Paramount Pictures UK (and more than 1,300 young entrants) to showcase the artwork of one lucky winner before every screening of Sonic The Hedgehog 3 in the country. Following a record-number of entries, the BBFC has revealed the winner: 9-year-old Ruby, from Leicester!
“Ruby’s entry is a striking, impactful tri-colour design that brilliantly reflects the brief,” the BBFC said. “It conveys a real sense of movement, capturing the spirit of Sonic the Hedgehog as he speeds across the screen.”
The winner was announced in an exclusive video by Sonic himself (Ben Schwartz), which also highlighted some of the brilliant runners-up from the competition.
Ruby and her family will be invited to the film’s London premiere later this month, where her oil-paint-on-paper artwork will make its big-screen debut.
Ruby said: “I can’t believe I have won! I really enjoyed making this painting. Thank you for choosing it. I can’t wait to see the film at the premiere. I’m very excited!”
Previous Create The Card Competitions paired entrants with Puss In Boots: The Last Wish and Jurassic World: Dominion. Check those out below:
