Warner Brosā Batgirl adds Rebecca Front, Corey Johnson and Ethan Kai to its cast ā the superhero film is currently shooting in Glasgow.
Batgirl has made three new additions to its cast, The Hollywood Reporter reveals. Rebecca Front is a BAFTA-winning English television actress and comedian who has had roles in
The Thick Of It, Midsomer Murders, and
Doctor Who. Corey Johnson has a similar background ā he is a character actor who plays small but memorable roles, including the Church Leader in
Kingsman: The Secret Service. The last new addition to the superhero film is Ethan Kai, a regular cast member in
Emmerdale.
There are no details yet on the characters the three will be playing, but they join an increasingly exciting cast. Leslie Grace, star of Jon M. Chuās
In The Heights, will be playing Barbara Gordon, also known as Batgirl. She is joined by J. K. Simmons, who is reprising his role as Commissioner Gordon from
Justice League.
It is also known that Michael Keaton is returning to the world of DC, appearing in some form as Batman or Bruce Wayne. He is also set to appear in
The Flash in the same capacity. Last, but certainly not least, Brendan Fraser continues his Hollywood comeback with a role as the filmās mystery villain.
Warner Bros. arenāt giving anything away when it comes to the plot, but we know plenty about the crew working on the movie. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, directors of
Bad Boys For Life, are helming the project, and Kristin Burr (who worked on
Cruella) has been brought in to produce. They are working with a script written by Christina Hodsen, who also wrote DCās popular female-led
Birds of Prey.
The film is set to release on HBO Max in the US, which means it is likely to debut on Sky and their NOW subscription service in the UK. This is because of an exclusive deal HBO has with Sky, which means that their films and shows debut on Sky services before being released through other means.
Batgirl is currently shooting in Glasgow, and is due for release at some point this year. More news as we hear it.
