The Beverly Hills Cop sequel, titled Axel Foley, is bringing back a quartet of memorable characters from the original films.
One of the very best things about the original Beverly Hills Cops films was that fun play on the classic ‘buddy cop’ dynamic. Eddie Murphy”s Axel Foley’s relationship with his ad-hoc colleagues drove much of the original films’ humour, so it’s good news to hear that several faces from those movies will be returning for Axel Foley, the fourth film in the series.
It has been confirmed that Judge Reinhold, Paul Reiser, John Ashton and Bronson Pinchot will all be reprising their roles from the earlier films. Ashton and Reinhold in particular, are two memorable faces from the original films, with their bickering detectives, Rosewood and Taggart providing excellent foils for Murphy’s gleefully madcap antics.
Reiser also made appearances as Murphy’s partner in Detroit whilst Pinchot played Serge, a small but memorable role as an art gallery salesman. Succession’s Mark Molloy directs, with the film being a Netflix production. No release date has been confirmed as of yet, but today’s news will have fans of the original films anticipating the movie just that little bit more. We’ll bring you more updates on Axel Foley as we hear them.
