Veteran actor Ann Dowd has joined the cast of The Exorcist remake, which is set to release in October of next year.
Halloween Ends, directed by David Gordon Green, is looking to close out Green’s well-received new Halloween trilogy with a bang when it hits cinemas in a couple of months. The series has captured audiences’ imaginations, not to mention performing well both critically and commercially, and it’s clear to see why Blumhouse has already secured the further services of Green, who will be reimagining another horror classic next in the form of The Exorcist.
Ann Dowd has now joined the project which already features Leslie Odom Jr. and veteran of the series Ellen Burstyn, who’ll reprise her role as Chris MacNeil. Dowd is no stranger to psychological horror: her turn in Ari Aster’s Hereditary was certainly memorable, not to mention her brilliant work in the dystopian horror TV series, The Handmaid’s Tale.
We’re not sure yet who Dowd will be playing, but we do know that Odom will portray the ‘father of a possessed child who seeks the help of MacNeil, hoping to gain help from her experience in thwarting the evil demon Pazuzu in the original film.’ With last year’s Halloween Kills proving to be a huge box office success, it will be fun to see what Green does with The Exorcist. Before then though, we’ve got a final instalment of Michael Myers’ return to Haddonfield to enjoy. We’ll let you know more about The Exorcist remake, which is reportedly set to be a trilogy, as we hear it.
