Andrew Garfield sings in new trailer for Tick, Tick… Boom!

The forthcoming Netflix musical from Lin-Manuel Miranda has launched its full trailer, with Andrew Garfield playing the creator of Rent. Netflix has released the full trailer for Tick, Tick… Boom! which is set to release on the streaming platform on November 19th. The film is set to continue a strong year for the musical genre, as it joins the ranks of films like In The Heights, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and Steven Spielberg’s upcoming West Side Story.  The film, charts the fortunes of theatre composer Jonathan Larson, who is “on the cusp of his 30th birthday,” dissatisfied with life and harbouring a dream to write “what he hopes will be the next great American musical.” Larson would go onto create Rent, a Broadway sensation. Tick, Tick… Boom! also features Alexandra Shipp, Robin de Jesús, Joshua Henry, Mj Rodriguez, Bradley Whitford, Tariq Trotter, with Judith Light and Vanessa Hudgens in its ensemble. The film follows Jon (Academy Award nominee and Tony Award winner Andrew Garfield), a young theatre composer who’s waiting tables at a New York City diner in 1990 while writing what he hopes will be the next great American musical. Days before he’s due to showcase his work in a make-or-break performance, Jon is feeling the pressure from everywhere: from his girlfriend Susan, who dreams of an artistic life beyond New York City; from his friend Michael, who has moved on from his dream to a life of financial security; amidst an artistic community being ravaged by the AIDS epidemic.
