Woody Allen and Amazon have ended their legal dispute.
Back in 2016, Amazon inked a deal with filmmaker Woody Allen to cover four new feature films. He received $10m up front as part of the deal, and went into production on the first of the four films, A Rainy Day In New York, not long after.
However, since 2016, allegations resurfaced against Allen, in relation to his adopted daughter and his treatment of her. Allen denies those allegations.
Amazon, though, opted not to release A Rainy Day In New York in the midst of the ongoing furore. Furthermore, it terminated its deal early, and at the start of the year, Allen filed a $68m breach of contract lawsuit against the firm.
Amazon for its part argued that the early termination of the deal was “justified”, arguing that Allen “made a series of public comments suggesting that he failed to grasp the gravity of the issues or the implications for his own career”. Furthermore, it argued that a number of actors had publicly said they would never work with Woody Allen again.

It’s now been revealed that Amazon has settled the case, although the terms of said settlement are under wraps. A Rainy Day In New York remains all-but-unreleased, whilst the fate of Allen’s next project – Rifkin’s Festival, now in post-production – is unclear too.
