England will join Wales and Northern Ireland in closing the doors on all of its cinemas this coming Thursday.
There’s a strong chance you’ve pieced this together already, but following the announcement made by Boris Johnson on Saturday, cinemas in England will close their doors for a month from this coming Thursday. Cinemas in Wales are already closed due to a lockdown ordered by the Welsh assembly. Likewise, Northern Ireland’s cinemas have been closed for a couple of weeks too.
For the moment, Scottish cinemas remain open, but don’t expect them to stay that way.
As things stand, cinemas are likely to reopen their doors in early December at the earliest, as efforts continue to minimise the impact of Covid’s second wave. It’s an inevitable blow to the cinema industry, given how hard staff have worked to make their venues safe.
Hopefully, hopefully, some degree of safe normality isn’t too far away. Stay safe everyone.
